Take Full Ownership of an Automotive Repair Facility
First Automotive is looking for an experienced leader to take complete ownership of our Liverpool location.
We are not looking for someone who wants the title without the responsibility. We need an operator who will be accountable for everything that happens on the property and under the roof: every employee, every customer, every vendor, every vehicle, every process, and every result.
You will lead a current team of two service advisors and four automotive technicians. Your job is to bring the entire operation together, establish priorities, remove obstacles, hold people accountable, and keep the business flowing efficiently, professionally, and profitably.
You will not be expected to personally perform every task. You will be expected to make sure every task is assigned, completed correctly, verified, documented, and corrected when standards are missed.
What You Will Own:
- Lead all daily operations from opening through closing and ensure the location is fully prepared for business.
- Direct the workflow between service advisors and technicians so vehicles are inspected, estimated, authorized, repaired, and completed efficiently.
- Establish daily priorities, monitor work in progress, manage schedule capacity, and prevent vehicles or customer commitments from falling through the cracks.
- Ensure customers receive accurate estimates, professional explanations, timely updates, and a consistent experience from appointment through pickup.
- Monitor sales, gross profit, car count, average repair order, technician productivity, labor efficiency, customer retention, and other operating performance indicators.
- Protect company pricing, labor-rate, parts-margin, documentation, authorization, and financial-control standards.
- Manage employee attendance, scheduling, coverage, onboarding, training, coaching, performance, accountability, and corrective action.
- Conduct regular team meetings and clearly communicate goals, responsibilities, standards, and changes.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns, repair-quality issues, warranty matters, comebacks, and service failures professionally and promptly.
- Oversee vendor relationships, parts accountability, inventory, invoices, purchases, equipment, property maintenance, security, and facility appearance.
- Ensure the workplace remains clean, organized, safe, customer-ready, and compliant with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Implement and enforce all current company policies, operating procedures, ownership directives, and First Automotive standards.
- Provide ownership with accurate updates, operating results, identified concerns, and a clear plan for corrective action.
- Recognize problems early, communicate them promptly, and prevent avoidable surprises.
What Success Looks Like:
- Customers are kept informed without having to chase the shop for answers.
- Service advisors are organized, professional, and accountable.
- Technicians know their priorities and have productive work in front of them.
- Work orders, inspections, estimates, approvals, parts, payments, and vehicle statuses are accurate.
- The property is clean, secure, and properly maintained.
- The team follows established procedures even when ownership is not physically present.
- The manager understands the numbers, addresses weak performance, solves problems, and accepts responsibility for the final result.
Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory or management experience is required.
- Automotive repair, service-center, dealership, tire-store, or related automotive management experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team, establish expectations, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong understanding of customer service, sales, workflow, productivity, and daily business operations.
- Ability to read performance reports, understand key operating numbers, and take corrective action.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional judgment and the ability to resolve difficult employee and customer situations.
- Exceptional organization, follow-through, urgency, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable learning and using automotive shop-management, digital-inspection, scheduling, email, and reporting systems.
- Experience with Protractor, AutoVitals, or similar automotive software is helpful but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record due to the potential movement of customer or company vehicles.
- Ability to work the full on-site schedule consistently.
